Moving my life in a positive direction

I got the opportunity to speak to a gifted young group of kids at the Geroge Gervin Academy and was it an extremely rewarding experience. Although the classroom was small, I felt like I made a more sincere connection with them. I wanted to share with them some of the principals that I have learned and continue to learn in my adulthood. In my youth, I was never taught about the power of visualization, goal setting and developing a positive attitude. Reflecting back, I think I could have really benefited from those principals. So I am on a mission to help as many young kids as I can, develop some sound positive principals to living a more positive, happier, productive and successful life.

I have a few exercises that I like to use with the students I speak to, showing them the importance of setting goals and taking positive action to get the things they want in life. I also gave them all a small journal to take home, in order to stimulate goal setting and reflection on the things they want. It is my opinion that when we set a goal for ourselves, and we are constantly looking and the goal, we then begin to attract that goal from the action we take to attain it. I stress to them that they can’t simply write the goal down and expect it to happen, they need to take action steps to reach that goal. I also tell them that the real power is not always reaching the goal, but what they become on the way to getting what they want. There will be times that they ultimately change their goal when they are close to hitting it, but what they will not change is what they’ve learned on the way to it’s achievement. I shared with them some positive quotes and a positive poem that I wrote. Lastly I ended the speech by giving them all a Positive Pin™ to wear in the hopes that it will remind themselves to live a more positive life and go after their goals.

In the end I think they all took something positive away from the speech, and that was the most rewarding thing to me. They may not have realized it, but they are helping me live a dream!

Jonathan de la Garza

Positive Thoughts through radio

Image

On Tuesday I was asked if I’d like to participate in a radio broadcast called Inspiration 4 Life.  Inspiration 4 Life is the brainchild of CEO/Founder/Host (and everything else) Rita Hernandez.  Rita is a good friend of  Valerie Anne Chavira Luna and when we donated some Positive Pins™ to Valerie’s charity event, she asked me if I’d be interested in coming on their show and talking about my mission to spread positivity.  How could I turn that opportunity down?!

If you don’t know Valerie, she grew up in El Paso, is a former Ms. River City and all around wonderful woman.  She’s constantly giving her time to people in need and is putting on a toy drive this Thursday for SAMMinistries.  If you’re interested in attending the event click HERE.  You might even see her out giving her time to judge youth beauty pageants too!

Rita does so many things that if I were to type it all here, it’d be several pages long.  In a nutshell, she’s a massage therapist and certified faith and fat loss trainer.  She’s also a very wonderful mother, and before our interview we got to chat about some of the things that she and her family are doing.  I love hearing stories about parents that inspire and motivate their children and she has some great stories about what her kids are doing.  I’m looking forward to the positive impact they will make on our city.  If you’re interested in hearing some positive thoughts in our broadcast click HERE to find out how.

Here are a few photos from the radio interview.  Please don’t judge too harshly, it’s “No Shave November” for me and I am trying to raise awareness for prostate cancer, and we just came from the gym.  We’re pretty casually dressed.

Think Positive™ Blog issues….positive quotes

I’d like to apologize to anyone that tried to access this blog in the past week.  For reasons beyond my control the site has some technical issues which obviously have now been resolved.   One important lesson through this whole ordeal was that getting angry, upset, mad, accusatory, and all the other negative feelings I coud have experienced was never an option.  I chose to stay positive and diligent on getting the site back online and working towards ensuring this doesn’t happen again.  I do feel bad for anyone that has a positive quote testimonial that was not accessible during the past week.  I am really looking forward to interviewing more positive people and if anyone has suggestions on how to make the interviews even better, please share them with me.  Sharing is caring and when we pool our thoughts, we make the world a better place.  Please feel free to browse our products and share a Positive Pin™ with someone special.

Sincerely,

Jonathan

On the way to Houston yesterday (so my father could have a specialist look at him) we saw a van on the freeway roll three times towards us.  For a second we thought it was going to roll right into us head on going 70 miles per hour.  Thankfully a number of things happened to protect us and the drivers of the van.  Apparently they had a rear tire blow out causing them to lose control and catch the soft dirt, which began the roll.  The wires that separated the freeway traffic did their job and stopped them from rolling into oncoming traffic.  We were the first on the scene, bolting across the freeway to make sure they were safe.  Both drivers were miraculously unscathed but were shaken up quite a bit, in fact, the driver asked “did we roll?”  I said “yes, three times.”  He was shocked and his hands were shaking violently.  In fact, he couldn’t even dial the phone because of how bad his hands were shaking.  He kept repeating “Gracias a Dios.”  He was thanking the Lord for protecting him and his passenger friend.

Seeing this was another reminder to me that life is fleeting, and can be taken away at a moments notice.  It had me wondering what kind of legacy I would leave if I was to be gone today.  I have to disclose to you, I am happy with all that I have done in my life, but there is so much more that I want to accomplish.  Not only for myself, but for the world.  I want to leave something that people can grow with and use to improve their lives.  Look out future, I have some great things in the works!
