Project Positivity – Think Positive™ with Eric DeWalt

09 Feb
February 9, 2014

In this  video I sit down with Eric DeWalt, an attorney, entrepreneur, candidate for judge, part time volunteer clown, and much more. Eric was a recommendation from Rico Riojas, a previous Project Positivity recipient. Rico had a lot of great things to say about Eric and when we sat down and chatted, I understood what Rico was talking about. Eric is really into giving back to the community, either by hosting events at his office for Central Catholic High School alumni, to raising fund for the Shriners by dressing up as a clown and bringing joy to many kids lives. It’s not surprise to me that he’s successful, because he shares a common trait with the most successful people out there.  He makes sure that he gives back to the community.  It’s like that old adage that Zig Ziglar used to say, “you can have everything in life that you want, if you just help enough people get what they want.” Eric, it was an honor to meet you and I wish you continued success.

I’ve always liked the phrase “it’s simple, but not easy.”  That’s how I feel when it comes to keeping a positive outlook on life.  The principals are simple, but sometimes they are not easy to do.  We get lazy, or distracted.   When you surround yourself with positive people, you feel more positive about your life.  The same holds true for negativity, if you hang around negative people, you’ll become just like them.  So do your best to be around positive people, and if all of your friends are negative, then be alone.  It is better to be alone and in a positive spirit, than be with a group of people that are negative.  Seek out like minded positive people and your unlimited successful future is guaranteed!  Also read great positive books like The Power of Positive ThinkingThink and Grow RichThree Feet from Gold, and a number of other inspirational and motivating books.  Whatever you want to be or become, chances are high that someone that has already done it and become successful has written a book about it.  Read that book!  I love the saying “leaders are readers” because it reminds me that I need to continue to read more and more every day.

If you know of anyone that should be recognized for their positive attitude, please contact me so that we can keep this positive vibe spreading.  And get some Positive Pins™ to wear or share!

Think Positive

In this  video I sit down with Angela Gomez, entrepreneur and part time talent herself, she runs a successful talent agency based out of San Antonio.  They contract talent out all over the country though.  When I met Angela, I noticed that she had this positive spark about her.  She has a great smile and a bubbly outgoing personality.  I love meeting people like Angela, who have drive, focus, and a positive vision for where they are going with their life.  The very first time I saw her, I thought she was unapproachable because she looked like she had her act together, but she was so friendly and made everyone feel like a dear friend, that I knew I had to find out her secret and share it with my friends.  In this video you’ll hear what she does to stay positive and get ahead in life.  For starters she gives herself a pep talk every morning when she wakes up, she reads positive books, and she surrounds herself with positive people.  I hope you enjoy our interview, and if you’re looking for some talent/modeling work, contact her at GES Talent.

Project Positivity 2014 – Think Positive™ with Edmund and Leela

27 Jan
January 27, 2014

In this  video I get to sit down with two very special people I was introduced to about a year ago.  My friend Bryan Hixon went to school with Edmond and thankfully stayed in touch with him since.  As you’ll see in this interview, Edmond and Leela are both genuine kind and giving people.  One of the first meetings with Edmond, he gave us a yoga class.  I can see him as a master Yogi, and that might be the journey that he is on.  His voice is soothing and his demeanor is kind, and I can’t imagine anyone not liking this sweet couple.  Some of the principals that they preach is being positive is a choice.  We have the choice to live a positive life or a negative one, and it will take some mental strength to get there.  Another tip they give is to be grateful, because we often overlook our blessings.  They both recommend meditation, and surrounding yourself with positive people.  It’s said that you are a product of your environment, and if you surround yourself with negative people, guess what kind of person you will likely become?  Leela also gave her family some gratitude books to help them realize on a daily basis the blessings that they have.  I was so happy to have them for my interview, and I won’t be surprised if they Positive Pins™ that I gave them are given away to someone in need in the next few days.  It’s just the kind of people they are.

It’s an interesting and simple thing being positive. Also read great positive books like The Power of Positive Thinking, Think and Grow Rich, Three Feet from Gold, and a number of other inspirational and motivating books.  Whatever you want to be or become, chances are high that someone that has already done it and become successful has written a book about it.  Read that book!  I love the saying “leaders are readers” because it reminds me that I need to continue to read more and more every day.

Project Positivity 2014 – Think Positive™ with Bernadette

06 Jan
January 6, 2014

In this  video I get to sit down with my old schoolmate Bernadette Cole, and she explains what she does to think positive thoughts and run a successful business.  Bernadette is a franchise broker for several Exit Realty offices and knows the importance of keeping a positive state of mind for herself and her team.  She is certainly living the American dream, in fact, her husband used to fly Air Force Two and is an accomplished pilot.  She has supported me and my mission to spread the positive word around across the world, and for that, I am sincerely thankful.

It’s an interesting and simple thing being positive.

Positive Thoughts through radio

20 Nov
November 20, 2013

On Tuesday I was asked if I’d like to participate in a radio broadcast called Inspiration 4 Life.  Inspiration 4 Life is the brainchild of CEO/Founder/Host (and everything else) Rita Hernandez.  Rita is a good friend of  Valerie Anne Chavira Luna and when we donated some Positive Pins™ to Valerie’s charity event, she asked me if I’d be interested in coming on their show and talking about my mission to spread positivity.  How could I turn that opportunity down?!

If you don’t know Valerie, she grew up in El Paso, is a former Ms. River City and all around wonderful woman.  She’s constantly giving her time to people in need and is putting on a toy drive this Thursday for SAMMinistries.  If you’re interested in attending the event click HERE.  You might even see her out giving her time to judge youth beauty pageants too!

Rita does so many things that if I were to type it all here, it’d be several pages long.  In a nutshell, she’s a massage therapist and certified faith and fat loss trainer.  She’s also a very wonderful mother, and before our interview we got to chat about some of the things that she and her family are doing.  I love hearing stories about parents that inspire and motivate their children and she has some great stories about what her kids are doing.  I’m looking forward to the positive impact they will make on our city.  If you’re interested in hearing some positive thoughts in our broadcast click HERE to find out how.

Here are a few photos from the radio interview.  Please don’t judge too harshly, it’s “No Shave November” for me and I am trying to raise awareness for prostate cancer, and we just came from the gym.  We’re pretty casually dressed.

Need a reminder to stay positive?

19 Nov
November 19, 2013

Good morning friends,

I hope that you’re all having a great week and staying positive!  I’d like to encourage you all to contact me if you have something positive to share, because the more we can bring sunshine and bright positive light to the world, the more of an impact we’ll make.

So the other day I got an email from someone asking me to review this application that was created to remind people to think positive thoughts throughout their day.  It’s actually an idea that I had too a while ago, but did not take action on creating it.  I am glad that someone has taken the initiative to help generate some positive energy out there.  Thank you Yaron Ilani for creating this neat and helpful application.  I hope that a lot of people support you with your endeavor.

Application
Remember that our lives are what we make of it.  We can choose to be positive and focus on our blessings or we can choose to be negative and focus on all of our challenges.  Everyone has challenges, the thing that separates the happy people from the sad ones are what they focus on.  I’m here if you need me, and I hope that I can help you stay positive with my commitment to spread positivity around the web and the world.
Sincerely,
Jonathan

think positive

Yesterday I got the opportunity to speak with a wonderful group of people about The Positive Pin™ and my mission to think and spread positivity.  The group in known as the NEISD Family Specialists and they touch the lives of several students, parents, and the community as a whole.  To give you an idea of what they do, this is an excerpt from their website:

Family Specialists are located at 35 of the NEISD campuses and provide support and services for students and their families, creating a true connection between home life, school life and community life.

In collaboration with school staff, the Family Specialists:

  • provide families with information from the district, community agencies, city and state institutions, and any other organizations that might benefit those with specific needs;
  • facilitate and conduct parent education classes, counseling and mentoring;
  • assist students and families to reach their maximum educational benefits; and
  • provide support to those who are in emotional or financial crisis.

Family Specialists have the knowledge and concern for the wide range of social, emotional, cultural, and economic differences among the student’s families.

As you can see they are doing some great things for people in need.  So when I was asked to speak to them and to help them start of the coming year on a positive note, I was honored to say the least.  Let me replay (albeit quickly) the day.

I woke up early and looked through my closet at what suit to wear.  I decided to wear a gray suit that I quite like.  Now I had to choose a shirt, but which one should I wear?  So I thought to myself “the light blue looks great with the grey, a white shirt would look classic, maybe this new pink striped one would look nice……hmm, I think I’ll wear this lavender one, I haven’t worn it in a while.”

Little did I know that making that decision would be a God-wink.  Near the end of my speech Jeanette, the coordinator; asked me why I wore a lavender shirt.  I told her that it just sort of popped out to me.  When she asked that, I looked around and noticed that almost everyone had lavender or purple on.  I was so focused on delivering a good speech that I didn’t notice.  Apparently one of the family specialists had passed away tragically in a car accident a few weeks earlier, and since lavender was her favorite color everyone decided to honor her by wearing it that day.  Apparently she was deeply loved because almost the whole room was in tears after one of the ladies delivered a remembrance message about her.  I would like to say that I was shocked that of all of the shirts in my closet, I chose lavender, but I am not.  Things happen for a reason, I sincerely believe that.  Being at peace and being positive is a wonderful way to live, and I hope that more people get to live their lives that way.  Share positive thoughts, share positive quotes, believe in the power of positive thinking, and lets make this world a more positive place to be.

Sincerely,

Jonathan de la Garza

Spreading positivity with The Positive Pin™

August 6, 2013

In this video I am experimenting with spreading positivity with a creative and fun opportunity.  I recently purchased 5 “quick-picks” for the estimated $400 million Powerball lottery that will be drawn on 8/7/2013.  If people Share my video post that is on my Facebook Positive Pin page (http://www.Facebook.com/ThePositivePin) promiting this offer, they will get 50% of my earnings if I win the MAJOR Jackpot, which means match all 5 numbers and the Powerball.  They HAVE to share the post I did on my page before the drawing takes place to be eligible.  We’ll see if we can share the message of The Positive Pin™ with more and more people in fun and creative ways!  Plus, if no one wins this rounds drawing,  I’ll make the offer again!  Good luck, think positive thoughts, think positive quotes, read positive things, and live a positive and happy life!  And keep spreading positivity.

Sincerely,

Jonathan de la Garza

Follow your talents for a happier life

04 Jul
July 4, 2013

Today I met a friend for breakfast and we caught up on the weeks events.  While chatting we noticed a table of police officers sit down across from us and Matt and I talked about our thoughts about being in law enforcement.   After they had gone, the waitress noticed that one of them left a napkin with two sketches on it.   She was so delighted at his talent and she showed it to several tables around us.  It reminded me of one of my favorite topics, natural talent.  Some people also call it “God given talent.”  We’ve all heard the phrase “oh she’s a natural” or “he’s always been good at that” but how many of us stop to think about what it means and the potential that some of us could achieve if we really exploited our natural God given talents?  I love how Les Brown, motivational speaker; says the richest places in the world  are not the diamond or gold mines in Africa, but the graveyard.  Because there rest the dreams, inventions, books, and amazing ideas that were never realized.  Things that could have changed the world have gone to the grave with people who did not follow their dreams and talents.  It’s quite possible that the cure for many of our diseases are there in someones grave.  I highly doubt that this officer knew the joy he would give to the waitress when he drew his art.  If he did, I bet he’d do it more often.  Take Grandma Moses for example, who did not really start painting until her 70′s, only to become famous and an inspiration for elderly everywhere.  Her paintings have even sold in the millions of dollars.  What would her life had been like if she started painting at an earlier age?  How would the world have benefited?  Live your dreams, think positive thoughts, love everyone, and never forget how blessed we all are.
