Project Positivity – Think Positive with Rechelle Glendenning

Rechelle

In this interview I sit down with Rechelle Glendenning, a fashion consultant, realtor, wife and mom to kids and animals alike. I jokingly say that because she’s adopted several animals, including a squirrel and fawn. She has an obvious kind and loving heart and  I was so thankful that she agreed to be interviewed. I first met Rechelle at a fundraising event for battered women, and when her husband (Craig) and her walked into the room, it lit up. They both radiate good energy and make a great couple. In the video I mention that Facebook isn’t an accurate gauge for a persons character, but Rechelle is always posting positive things. It’s such a refreshing thing to see rather than people complaining about their lives or posting negative news. Rechelle, thanks again for being part of Project Positivity and for being my recent recipient of The Positive Pin™, I know that people you meet are glad to make the connection, and I for one am honored to call you a friend.

Fill your mind with good things rather than toxic garbage, and remember to think positive thoughts as often as possible. I suggest reading as many good positive things that you can, in the way of quotes and books. Books like The Power of Positive ThinkingThink and Grow RichThree Feet from Gold, and a number of other inspirational and motivating books.  Immersing yourself in ways to think positive thoughts and do positive things is the key to a happy life. Whatever you want to be or become, chances are high that someone that has already done it and become successful has written a book about it.  Read that book!  I love the saying “leaders are readers” because it reminds me that I need to continue to read more and more every day.

A week ago today I was sitting in the hallway of a Marriott in Orlando, waiting to learn how to become a better speaker from my hero, Les Brown. It wasn’t until three days prior would I find out that the seminar was going to be hosted by Paul Martinelli, a speaker that I was not familiar with. So there I was, one of the first students downstairs, assuring myself a good seat. The doors to the room where the training was to be held were closed, so I made myself comfortable outside in the hallway. All of a sudden a very enthusiastic and friendly man comes out from the room and asks me “Sir, are you doing ok? Is there anything you need?” Shocked by how outgoing he was at 7:15 in the morning I say “no sir, I am just waiting to get a good seat, I’m Jonathan.” “Hi Jonathan, I’m Paul” he replies. Then it dawns on me, this is the host of the event. Embarrassingly I say to him “Paul Martinelli? The speaker?” He said yes very humbly as we continued to shake hands. I tell him “Mr. Martinelli, please don’t take offense, I have not heard you speak before, but I am looking forward to hearing your story.” He didn’t take offense, in fact he seemed prepared for my response and responded eloquently by saying “I am in no way offended by you not knowing me. My role in life, my gift really is being a number 2 to some of the greats, it is my sweet spot, so most people never know me until they meet me at an event like this one.” WOW, what an attitude to have. I couldn’t help but like the guy, and when I heard him teach, I liked him even more. Between you and me, he sounds like Tom Hanks. Really, I closed my eyes when I heard him speak and he sounds JUST like Tom Hanks! And who doesn’t like Mr. Hanks?

Another superstar I met there was Ona Brown, the daughter of Les Brown and a powerhouse speaker in her own right. What appealed to me most during this event was how loving, caring and interested all of the staff were about helping us become better. Ona radiates a natural motherly aura. You can tell that her soul is deep and that she wants the best for you. When I asked her if she would like a Positive Pin™ of course she said yes. She even wore it and let me get a picture with her. You can see that photo above. Another wonderful person I met was Dr. Julie VanPutten, who co-hosted the event with Les, Ona and Paul. Dr. Julie is smart. She had some really great tips on getting the most out of this training and kept us on our toes. Her strength was keeping our mind sharp, and helped up pick up all the subtleties that Les was teaching us. I wish I could spend a month with her, learning how to get the most out of listening. The last two trainers were Roddy and Susan Galbraith, a couple from the UK. Susan did my first evaluation (of a speech I delivered) and Roddy did the last one. I gave them both a positive pin too and they seemed to really like it. I kept seeing them around the hotel after the training and I very badly wanted to sit and learn from them, pick their brain so to speak, but I was already feeling like a stalker. They both gave very kind hearted tips about improving the speech that I gave and I really liked how Roddy helped me figure out the strong points of my speech and weed out the excess “fat” that I didn’t need to have in there in the first place.

If you want to increase your income, I feel it is important to learn more than you already know. Too often in my life I have been stagnant or dormant. Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever felt stuck? Trainings like these help energize me to move towards my goals and help nurture the belief that there is more that I can do in my life. I encourage you to look up the people I mentioned in this post, they all have something valuable to teach, and I have no doubt that you can learn something from them. If there is any way that I can be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Project Positivity – Think Positive™ with Jan Robberts

August 16, 2014

In this interview I sit down with Jan Robberts, a John Maxwell team speaker, coach & trainer. I met Jan this week in Orlando at a speaker training seminar put on by Paul Martinelli and Les Brown, and I am glad I did. I even got to meet Les Browns kids, Ona Brown and John Leslie Brown! It was such a valuable investment in my future and if you have not invested in your future recently, it’s something that you should seriously consider. Jim Rohn (my favorite speaker) was known for his quote “we get paid for the value we bring to the marketplace” and always encouraged self-improvement. While sharing some Positive Pins™ with a few of the leaders at the seminar I met Jan, and he said “I like that, they call me Mr. Positive.” Well after an introduction like that, I HAD to get him on video to share with us why they call him that and ask him what he does to think positive thoughts on a regular basis. Although his schedule was pretty heavy, he managed to set aside a few minutes to share what he does daily and what he’s doing for the world in general, to make it a better place. He’s a pretty imposing guy (over 6′ tall) and when he speaks with his deep Dutch/Scottish accent one can’t help but listen. Thanks Jan, you were kind to make time for this interview and I love what you shared.

Harrison Ford is believed to have said “The only thing that I have done that is not mitigated by luck or diminished by good fortune, is that I persisted and other people gave up.” In the pursuit of our goals and dreams we must never give up. If we quit on a goal, then we will likely never hit it, but if we persist with positive action, then it’s attainment is all but guaranteed. And once you reach your goal, then no one should ever be able to convince you that things cannot be achieved. Plus the feeling of accomplishment you’ll get when you reach victory should propel you to reach for more.  Develop a habit of goal setting. Our habits are the road map to our future. I suggest reading as many good positive things that you can, in the way of quotes and books. Project Positivity – Think Positive™ with Nerissa Figueroa

August 16, 2014

In this interview I sit down with Nerissa Figueroa, WBFF Fit-Pro and someone I’m glad to call a new friend. I met Nerissa at a networking event for statewide magazine, NSIDE. Someone told me that I should get her on my blog because she’s always positive and constantly posting positive things on her Facebook page. The first thing I did was send her a friend request on Facebook (not a stalker move at all, right?) and then when I saw her on a Tuesday event, I approached her and introduced myself. Although we had not met in person, she was very kind and down to earth and was very open to letting us know what she does to think positive thoughts on a regular basis. When her schedule allowed, we sat down and chatted about how she stays positive and only posts positive things online. When I thought about it, it’s easy for people to say they are positive, but one look at the things that they share online, and you see the ones that are walking the walk. Nerissa has two very beautiful well behaved kids and I am certain she’s a great mom. I think a lot of how she stays positive is what she does for a living. She’s a fitness coach, so naturally she demands more of herself. If you’re interested in how she can help you get fit an positive, please contact her via email or on her Facebook page.

I love the quote by Warren Buffett that says “the chains of habit are too light to be felt, until they are too heavy to be broken.”  If we are dealing with negativity from our environment, we need to change it, before it changes us. Our habits are the road map to our future, and sometimes they sneak up on us and we don’t realize that it is a part of our daily routine. A positive future looms by reading positive quotes

think positive

Have you ever found yourself dwelling on the past longer than you should? I sometimes do. It’s not unlike the scene from Napoleon Dynamite where Uncle Rico wishes he could go back in time, change a few things and his life would be different now. I guess the only difference is that I wouldn’t change anything, I would just want to relive the great feelings I remember having. That’s something that I am always work on, training myself to look towards the future, not the past, but being careful not to forget to live in the present. I am finding that there are a lot of things to keep in mind when creating the life we desire, so staying sharp and aware of our environment is extremely important.

My favorite speaker was Jim Rohn, but sadly he is no longer with us. I never got to see him speak in person, because by the time I happened upon his life changing audio series The Day That Turns Your Life Around he was at the end of his speaking career. He was loved by many of my new favorite speakers, and he said something that gives me hope for myself. He said “listen to me carefully but don’t watch me too closely. I’m working on this stuff too.” I love that he had the strength to say that even he has to work on himself. I try my best to submit positive quotes every day, not only to try to inspire others to live a more positive life but to remind myself too. There’s so much negative news and media out there that any bit of light I can spread makes a difference to me. Plus I believe that things happen for a reason, and I honestly believe that the positive posts I share will reach someone at the right time that they need it. You never know who you’re going to touch, and some seeds take longer than others to germinate.

On a personal note I am on track to read 2 books per month. That’s a huge goal for me since I have never been a huge reader. It’s believed that if someone reads one book per month their area of interest, that in 5 years they’ll be an expert in their chosen field. What would the world be like if we all became as amazing as we are capable of being? I hope one day we find out.

If I can be of service to anyone reading this blog, please call on me.

Sincerely,

Jonathan de la Garza

Build Your Willpower to Think Positive

This is a guest blog submission by Eliud Lamboy, an entrepreneur and a  friend.

It’s a chilly morning at 5am during the month of April.  I’m standing in front of my apartment’s pool in nothing but trunks and a cheap pair of swimming goggles. Shivering from the cold, I stood there for what seemed an eternity while my mind pondered the action I was about to take. Swimming was not my strong suit. “Is this normal?” I said in a whisper to myself.  It was all irrelevant as I stood there.  What mattered was Read more →

Moving my life in a positive direction

25 Jun
June 25, 2014

I got the opportunity to speak to a gifted young group of kids at the Geroge Gervin Academy and was it an extremely rewarding experience. Although the classroom was small, I felt like I made a more sincere connection with them. I wanted to share with them some of the principals that I have learned and continue to learn in my adulthood. In my youth, I was never taught about the power of visualization, goal setting and developing a positive attitude. Reflecting back, I think I could have really benefited from those principals. So I am on a mission to help as many young kids as I can, develop some sound positive principals to living a more positive, happier, productive and successful life.

I have a few exercises that I like to use with the students I speak to, showing them the importance of setting goals and taking positive action to get the things they want in life. I also gave them all a small journal to take home, in order to stimulate goal setting and reflection on the things they want. It is my opinion that when we set a goal for ourselves, and we are constantly looking and the goal, we then begin to attract that goal from the action we take to attain it. I stress to them that they can’t simply write the goal down and expect it to happen, they need to take action steps to reach that goal. I also tell them that the real power is not always reaching the goal, but what they become on the way to getting what they want. There will be times that they ultimately change their goal when they are close to hitting it, but what they will not change is what they’ve learned on the way to it’s achievement. I shared with them some positive quotes and a positive poem that I wrote. Lastly I ended the speech by giving them all a Positive Pin™ to wear in the hopes that it will remind themselves to live a more positive life and go after their goals.

In the end I think they all took something positive away from the speech, and that was the most rewarding thing to me. They may not have realized it, but they are helping me live a dream!

A wonderful find! Ms. Candice Sand.

The other day I was contacted by someone that stumbled upon my site, and I was asked to share her message and video. Her name is Candice Sand and her video Go On (featuring JRDN) is great. It’s imagery, melody, and message are certainly worth listening to. Thanks for reaching out to me Candice, this is the sort of positive message and unity that the internet needs more of. If there’s anything that I can do for you please let me know. I wish you continued success!

I asked her to let me know what sort of things keep her positive and this is what she has to say:

How do I stay positive?
I’ve read a lot perception and how we choose perception (“perception” can also be known as our “beliefs” in this context). Gratitude is a major perception shifter. You see things differently. It breaks you away from ego and inserts love into whatever situation you’re in. I practice gratitude, I meditate, and I read a lot about new ways of living and thinking… about finding your true self and living a fulfilling life from it.

Project Positivity – Think Positive™ with Luis Munoz

Jon Luis

In this interview I sit down with Mr. Luis Munoz, someone that I have a hard time labeling what he does. It’s because he pretty much does it all. He’a a producer, director, owns a bar and the list goes on but what I think he does best is keep a really level headed positive attitude. In this sit down we talk about what he does on a daily basis and how he starts his day, because I love hearing what people do to start the day off in a positive mood. Too often we get in a routine in our lives and that becomes a habit. Bad habits lead to bad results, just like good habits lead to good results. What we sometimes have to do is learn from others what works for them, and adopt those practices into our own lives and see if it works. That’s why I feel this blog is valuable, to learn what positive happy people do that I may not be doing or at the very least some tips on things that I can try that would improve my way of living. After all everyone should want to live a more positive and happy life, right? Although I love the sit down interview online, the really interesting conversation came when we turned the camera off. We talked about where Luis and his family came from, the future of mankind, a GREAT bar concept that he has brewing and beautiful women. We also exchanged a number of great quotes, one of my favorite being “if you want to lift people up, you need to be on higher ground” which I heard from Jim Rohn. Enjoy the video and if you’re in need of professional production work contact Luis a Bauhaus Media Group or grab a drink at The Local Bar, and tell him you saw him here on Project Positivity.

I’ve always liked the phrase “it’s simple, but not easy.”  That’s how I feel when it comes to keeping a positive outlook on life.  The principals are simple, but sometimes they are not easy to do.  We get lazy, or distracted.   When you surround yourself with positive people, you feel more positive about your life.  The same holds true for negativity, if you hang around negative people, you’ll become just like them.  So do your best to be around positive people, and if all of your friends are negative, then be alone.  It is better to be alone and in a positive spirit, than be with a group of people that are negative.  Seek out like minded positive people and your unlimited successful future is guaranteed!  Also read great positive books like The Power of Positive ThinkingThink and Grow RichThree Feet from Gold, and a number of other inspirational and motivating books.  Immersing yourself in ways to think positive thoughts and do positive things is the key to a happy life. Project Positivity – Think Positive™ with Eliud Lamboy

08 May
May 8, 2014

In this interview I sit down with Mr. Eliud Lamboy of Techy Dogs. Eliud was referred to me from Yusuf Chowdhury, a person that I work with most of my SEO and online business strategies. Yusuf nominated Eliud for a Positive Pin™ because he is always upbeat, has an amazingly positive attitude and is always wanting to help anyone in need. Eliud has a natural positive vibe about him, do you know what I mean? He’s the kind of guy that when you see him out and about, you take note. There’s something about people that have natural positive energy that grabs your attention. You want to get to know them and find out why it is they “feel” different. As a matter of fact I just got back from a trip and there was a guy on the plane sitting behind me that had the similar energy. I overheard his conversation with the people he was sitting next to and I wanted to chat with him but I missed the opportunity. It’s funny how a thing like that can pass us by if we let it. Seize the day and talk to as many people as you can, you never know what that seed of conversation may bring. I have my normal rituals when I wake up in the morning to start my day off on a positive foot, and this morning I tried what Eliud recommended. It is to take long deep breaths and focus on this wonderful gift called life. It works! It has me feeling more centered and at peace. I am honestly thankful that I have been given another day of life. I believe that positivity germinates from being thankful and at peace with our lives. Thank you Eliud for agreeing to be part of this positivity movement. I wish you much success and happiness in your life.
